SIGNATURE MEMBER APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
To apply for Signature Member status, alert the committee chair of your intent to apply by the announced deadline. Then, please complete the attached application form and submit it the day the applications and paintings are juried.
The judging takes place in two phases on the same day using a 100-point scale. In PHASE I, the following criteria, for 65 points, will be evaluated by the committee:
- Juried competition
- Art education
- Art experience
- Publications
- Awards
In PHASE II, the guest judge will rank the applicant’s artwork on the following 35 point system:
- Composition
- Concept
- Use of watercolor
- Overall presentation and body of work
At the specified time, please bring three (3) pieces of work, matted and framed. Remember, presentation counts!
Applicants will be advised of the committee’s decision that same day.
What are the advantages of being a Signature Member?
You will have the opportunity to display and sell your work in Signature Member status at all membership shows.
You do not have to pay an entry fee to be in membership shows.
Signature members have the privilege to use the initials “BWS” after their names.
To maintain Signature Member status, you must remain a member in good standing, which means BWS membership dues must be paid and current each year. If membership lapses, the Signature Member must then re-apply.
